Culturally responsive teaching and the brain summary

My teaching is guided by Vygotsky’s theoretical framework that social interaction plays a fundamental role in the development of cognition. From the outset, I work hard to establish a safe, welcoming environment based on trust and mutual respect.I strongly believe that we learn more from each other and that learning is a social process. I see that tension between the individualistic and the collectivist archetypes played out every day in my classroom.
